For over a century, Chicago has been a leader in sign design and innovation. In the past decade we’ve seen these signs rapidly begin to disappear. By working with city officials, business owners and a network of sign makers we offer easy solutions to preserving these important cultural artifacts.
We also offer de-install services and full restoration.
Teach
Educating the public on the history and importance of Chicago signs is at the core of our mission.
In the warmer months we offer tours and educational opportunities. If you are interested in organizing a community event, please contact us for more information.
With help from community members, we work to archive the remaining signs in Chicago. We take recommendations for signs at risk signs for our Citywide and Chicagoland sign survey.
We additionally are collecting oral histories of Chicago sign makers. If you are interested please contact us.
